Ingress Protection (IP) Testing
Ingress protection (IP) is the ability of your product to withstand the ingress of foreign objects
(solid and water) to ensure they are suitable for the intended environment.
MS Testing can perform UKAS accredited Ingress Protection testing of your product to the following codes:
Protection against solid objects
- IP1X - 50mm diameter
- IP2X - 12.5mm diameter
- IP3X - 2.5mm diameter
- IP4X - 1mm diameter
- IP5X - Dust Protected
- IP6X - Dust Tight (equipment under vacuum conditions)
Protection from water
- IPX5 – Protected against water jets (6.3mm nozzle with a flow rate of 12.5 litres per minute) from any direction
- IPX6 – Powerful water jets (12.5mm nozzle with a flow rate of 100 litres per minute) from any direction
- IPX7 – Immersion up to 1m
- IPX8 – Immersion beyond 1m
